About Us

Our mission statement:

Pushing Boundaries Theatre Co. strives to produce theatre that enlightens communities about social taboos. By investigating social, moral and political topics that have an impact upon young people, we aim to utilise performance within local areas to make their voice heard.

Our manifesto:

We will write performances that can be interchangeable for different communities as well as being open to interpretation.

We will always create new and fresh writing to draw in new and fresh audiences as well as drawing in and keeping the appeal to regular theatregoers.

We shall discuss, through our writing, issues that effect people locally and nationally. Parking fines to peace keeping, any issue can affect anyone.

We shall do research into the communities that we visit so make every show relevant to each audience. Audiences must be able to relate and connect with the characters and issues.

We will work with people to help bring to light the issues of the community and open up dialogue on topics people don’t always want to talk about.

We feel theatre should be accessible for all: inexpensive, invaluable and in both small spaces and large, new spaces and old.

We believe theatre could and should make a difference and should be transformative for everyone involved.

We feel art should be used to help community and money raised from the art be put back into it. Any profits from us will go to local communities of the areas we perform in as well as charities that specialise in the issues raised in our performances.

Our performance shall be the highest of quality at the lowest of cost.

All theatre has a purpose; our performances will always have a reason and will not make theatre as a commodity simply to make money.
