FUNdraiser!

fundraiser

Our fundraiser took place on the 25th and 26th of April. This gave us our first real chance to personally advertise our performance to the general public in person instead of on social media. This was helped by the fact that we had our flyers and posters printed so this was a great chance to market our upcoming performance well! Having the posters and flyers round not only helped with drawing attention to our fundraising stands but also was a simple way for us to advertise information about our show. Our idea was to give away a flyer to each person that entered our competition as we had advertised our social media on there, and this is where we would be announcing our winner. This created a way for us to gain more attention on social media, as they had to ‘like’ our Facebook page to see the winner be announced!

What was our fundraiser?

Our idea was to split up the fundraiser into two parts. One was a ‘guess how many sweet in the jar’ where the (lucky) winner would claim two free cinema tickets for the film of their choice as well as all the sweets in the jar (and the jar! What’s not to love?!) . As the marketing team, Sarah and myself printed out a grid with the numbers 70-170 on, which we would then cross off as each person guessed and took down their name and their answer. Only Chloe, our producer, knew the answer (which was 115) so this meant all our theatre company could also have a go!

Our second activity was a raffle, where we decided to sell one ticket for 50p or a strip for £2. We then had three winners. The first winner that we drew out would win a litre bottle of vodka. The second winner would win a crate of cider (of their choice) and the third winner we drew out would win a six-pack of beer (also of their choice).

We had two locations for our fundraiser: the library entrance and the entrance to our Student Union – Tower Bar. We thought these were two general places where we would get people of all ages coming in as well as always being busy (who doesn’t love a pint after a long day at the library?!).

Overall, our fundraiser was not only successful but great fun for all our team and a chance to meet our potential audience and fill them in on both our Pushing Boundaries as a theatre company and our upcoming production!
